AMC 8 is for Grade 6-8 students (under 14.5 years) — 25 questions in 40 minutes, no negative marking. AMC 10 is for Grade 9-10 students (under 17.5 years) — 25 questions in 75 minutes, with a scoring system (6 for correct, 1.5 for blank, 0 for wrong) where a strong score qualifies for AIME.
The MAA runs two AMC 10 papers each year, roughly two weeks apart, and a student may sit both — the better of the two scores counts toward AIME qualification, so most serious students attempt both if the schedule allows.
Yes — AMC 8, AMC 10 and AMC 12 are administered at registered international test centers, including in India, and are open to students worldwide regardless of nationality.
They are distinct pipelines that reward overlapping skills — IOQM feeds India's INMO/IMO pipeline, while AMC feeds AIME/USAMO. Many students prepare for both in parallel since the core mathematical skill transfers directly.
